You can be a photographer, but to be a photo-journalist you have to let your photo tell a story.  In simple language, passionate photographer, Tor Tjernansen, encouraged budding photographers to "look for the verb in the story".  It may take 50 shots to get it, but a boy kicking a football is far more interesting than a boy and a football. 

Tor closed the 90 minute presentation with a challenge:  "Take your camera, and with what you have learnt, give me a portrait photo and a picture expressing the essence of this conference."  This excited Corrado Cozzi who immediately offered a prize for the winning photo.

Tor's workshop followed a serious emphaisis on good photography in Monday's e-news track.  Both Ansel Oliver (ANN News Editor) and Victor Hulbert (British Union Communication and Media Director) showed in simple terms how to take a good photo and use it in a news story.  The aim of Victor's presentation was to show Communication Directors how they can train members in local churches to take and submit better photos to church publications.
